Tim Hortons in Canada often gives veterans complimentary hot drinks on Remembrance Day.

Local news will mention when local restaurants have special offers for veterans.
I found this one for Sault Ste Marie.

@harters might have some thoughts.

But where can veterans get SOS?

Shit on a Shingle?

That’s good shit.

You gotta pay for that.

I would Google free shit on a shingle but I’m afraid what my targeted ads would like after that.

My husband is a Vietnam vet and SOS was not a good thing. Now me otoh have fond memories of dried beef (boiled and drained to get rid of salt) cream gravy, boiled new potatoes and fried johnnycakes with a dab of cold butter. Special treat as a kid.

I make it over whole wheat toast with a black pepper forward bechamel, but since I haven’t had access to a local butcher I discovered Hillshire Farms Thin Sliced Pastrami which works really well.
