What to eat in and bring back from Portugal! ( Porto, Douro Valley, Lisbon, Petiscos)

I’m watching a “Delicious Destinations” episode there, and seeing seafood, especially sardines and bacallau, a dish that’s like paella, caldo verde, egg tarts, a pork sandwhich (bifanas?) you eat at night. And lots of olive oil! Anything else? I’m guessing I can’t bring back meat, but how about bacallau?

Portugal Trip Planning--Thinking [Porto], [Lagos], [Lisbon], but open to suggestion

This will be my first trip to Portugal, and I am very excited. I will be traveling (at least mostly) solo and will get around by public transportation (train and bus). My current plan is to have three “home base” places and take some day trips or trips for meals (thinking, for example, to take that easy 500 bus from Porto to Matosinhos). We got back late last night from a wonderful trip to Portugal (and prior to Portugal, London and Edinburgh where we visited family and friends). Lisbon, Portugal, Trip Report (and a little BCN, too.)

Sister and I were in Lisbon from 5/6-5/14, with overnights in Barcelona on either end. We adore BCN, but it left us only 5 full days in Lisbon, a city she’d never been to. I was there in 2016 for 3 weeks, and it has changed a lot. More expensive (like everything), more crowded, much more built up. Portugal: June visit to Guimaraes, Evora and Lisbon

Thanks to everyone who helped me make a plan for our weeklong visit to Portugal this June. Here’s a link to my previous post. We’ve settled on the following itinerary: Tuesday, Jun 13: Fly into Porto in the early afternoon. Rent car, and make our way to Guimaraes.
