Casa Paco - Has anyone been?

I know if Casa Paco opened in my neighbourhood, I’d be checking it out pretty darn fast. Lovely and engaging menu, decent pricing, and an owner with real restaurant experience.

I’m waiting for reviews I trust. At their previous place (Labora) I had a disastrous meal including a Paella that didn’t deserve the name with zero soccarat.
Not surprised it closed!

Well, rstuart, the gauntlet is now at your feet. Over to you.

Estufarian, I agree the Google reviews are suspiciously over-the-top. Still, I reeeeeally like that menu.

I can’t find a menu online - except for a photo of one item ‘Pasticcio di Funghi’ - which indeed looks spectacular (recall I’m banned from Facebook and Instagram).
I revisited my notes on Labora - apparently I also recoiled at their Carabinero Prawn which was horrendously overcooked - don’t know if that has survived the transition to Casa Paco.

Edited to add - found a menu attached to a Google review: The seafood now seems to come from Canada. But still waiting for a ‘trusted’ review before trying.
And I note your suspicion of the reviews - ALL of which are the only restaurant review by the poster in the last 6 months (OK one poster also visited a Roti shop within the last 6 months).

Must be quite a story there… OTOH, I don’t have either service so maybe it’s easy to get banned.

Edit - sorry not trying to pry, just sounded interesting.

My working life involved designing computer fraud models (among other things). I questioned their (Facebook) ‘security’ and refused to provide a copy of my passport when they asked for it. So they banned me (I actually tried again recently when a website insisted I make my comments via Instagram - and they said that email account was banned). There’s more, but that’s the basic reason.
I refuse to set up a ‘new’ email account just to get around the ban - so I don’t know if their security is any better than it was when I originally applied.

Interesting indeed, and thank you for responding.

Here ya go, Estufarian. No need to go incognito.

Thank you.
Any chance of a copy of the winelist?
I’m a ‘wine snob’ - and have a superb cellar of Spanish wines!

Nope
