I realized we don’t have a thread dedicated to this region, which is surprising given that we have a lot of places to choose from.
I’ll start us off with a recent visit we paid to Kori’s Roti in Oakville. We had a couple of errands to run and decided to try this place out for lunch. Disappointingly, they were completely sold out of their pumpkin roti, which was one thing we were seeking out. They were also sold out of their weekend-only doubles, until someone cancelled a pre-order and we landed their discards.
We started with their spicy beef patty, which had a sweet, flakey crusty and a delicious and not too spicy filling. We shared a goat roti, which was richly flavoured but not stewed long enough for me (I really prefer the connective tissue to be broken down). We ordered it medium spicy and it was vibrant enough that we might need to dial back a notch or two next time.
The leftover doubles were wondeful, perhaps the best item we had. The tender dough was wrapped around a chick pea curry, accented with sweet tamarind sauce.
If we’re back in Oakville, we’ll pre-order the pumpkin so we can give it a try.
