Cantoo Latin Asian Rotisserie [San Francisco, Tenderloin]

I had a late lunch at Cantoo Latin Asian Rotisserie today. It’s a Chinese Venezuelan restaurant in the former location of Chicken Broth with Noodles and before that Eden Silk Road. I’ve had American Chinese, Peruvian Chinese / chifa, and even Mexican Chinese food before, but not Venezuelan Chinese.

I started with some lumpia ($5), which came out piping hot and crispy, and were filled with p and shredded cabbage. It came with a sweet red sauce to dip in.

And I also had the Combo Valenciano ($9) which had a rotisserie chicken leg quarter, fried rice, and a little coleslaw. It also had some of the sweet red sauce that came with the lumpia, and a mayonnaise based sauce that kind of resembled the sauce that comes with Peruvian roast chicken. The rotisserie chicken was quite good. It was tender and moist. According to the menu, the chicken is brined in beer. It was also nicely seasoned with maybe some five spice powder. The fried rice was fine. This was a deal at $9.

To drink, a bottle of Polar Beer, a Venezuelan beer.
