[Canada] Past trip - Food on long distance Trains

Lie down with the light in the cabin turned off and look up at the sky. So many stars it feels like you are floating in space!

What it’s like to travel by train across half the width and length of this enormous country and the food served in first class. Only first class has private cabins and a nice dining room.

I took the train from Toronto to Winnipeg. And then from Churchill back to Winnipeg after 4 days of polar bear “safaris”. We were the only 2 lone tourists in the first class carriage, everyone else belonged to a packaged tour group to see polar bears in Churchill.

Yes, it’s absolutely possible to do a polar bear “safari” independently (we were the only 2 lone backpackers who got off the plane in Churchill). You need to do research very well and do it in advance. Bear safaris and hotels are almost always fully block booked by tour agencies.
