Hi Erica, they are both wild leeks.
You are correct that Calçots and Ramps are not the same plant.
Calçots are Allium cepa.
North American Ramps are Allium tricoccum.
Since Calçots are not growing in North America, some North American chefs here give ramps the Calçot treatment.
Both are the among the first edible plants to emerge in the spring.
