Burdock Brewery [Toronto] - fine beers and decent food

Went to Burdock for a show last night for the first time since pre-pandemic. I have always liked their beers and the food they have served has often been good. A few times they can overreach, but usually it is quite enjoyable gastro-pub fare.

In terms of beers, the Nula sour was excellent - citrusy and some pineapple notes too. I also tried the Razbino, a barrel-aged stout (10%) infused with raspberries - very chocolate and raspberry.

The scallop crudo was very fresh, with a nice tang and some crunch from puffed wild rice. But the heavy hand with the salt marred it.

Much better were the tasty lamb merguez sausages, served with chermoula, labneh, pickled turnips, fresh cilantro, sweet pickles, and lettuce to make wraps.

I had to eat quickly in order to make it to the show, so I didn’t get to order the lemon ricotta donuts. Maybe next time.
