Breadbelly (San Francisco - Dogpatch)

Breadbelly https://www.breadbellysf.com up at Clement Street is one if our favorite spots in the city for a lunch. More recently they opened a second location in Dogpatch which is much easier for us to reach. It’s located in the Pier 70 building and also contains their production facility which means that their selection is even better. Ample seating and parking make this a really nice little lunch place

Chicken Cutlet Salad - Taiwanese-style fried chicken cutlet, shredded salad mix, creamy sesame and fish sauce dressing, mint, cilantro, crunchy wonton chips, crispy shallots

Biscuit Smash - Buttermilk biscuit, black pepper sausage patty, scallion omelette, scallion chimichurri, new school american cheese

Kaya bun and Guava Chocolate Milk - guava, Valhrona chocolate, cacao, malted milk, muscovado

Nice! I love Breadbelly, but had no idea they opened a second location.

Love their egg salad sandwich and black sesame americano.

But charging $3 for a single slice of plain milk toast (not kaya toast) is criminal. And another $2 for a side of butter to go along with said toast. Felony stuff.

Everything else is outstanding, however, at whatever prices they are charging.

This first time I ate there I said to my daughter, I hope I don’t like this place because it’s popular and expensive. Unfortunately for me I really like their stuff.

They are expensive but when I look up at prices we for example paid yesterday for the salad and sandwich/biscuit yesterday and compare it to other sandwich places, I don’t think they are so much more expensive and the food tastes better and is more than enough.

Except for the plain white toast and butter for 5 freaking dollars (before tax).

To paraphrase my mother: you can buy a whole loaf and a stick of butter for that price, c’mon we’re going home to eat

I’m just spoiled by B Patisserie, who seem to keep their prices lower than Breadbelly, Arsicault, Jane the Bakery, etc. despite their high quality.

Who eats plain white toast with butter anyway…

Haven’t been in a while but aren’t their tartiness/sandwiches in the same price range ($15-17)

No the B On the Go sandwich place across the street (now closed) was about $5 cheaper than that and her pastries are definitely cheaper too.

People who wipe their arse with 5 dollar bills.

I do, but I’m the one making it.
