Unexpectedly home on Thanksgiving day – any good takeout options? My daughter would especially love any kind of sushi. Thank you!
Sorry about whatever caused the change in plans.
I’ve been to the original Fuji in Quincy many times, looks like they expanded like crazy and have a location in Newton now as well as a bunch of others. Not sure if they’re open tomorrow, but I’d venture a guess they might be for at least part of the day.
BostonChefs.com has a list, but I’m not sure any of it is sushi. You could look on DoorDash or GrubHub to see what’s open tomorrow for sushi. Good luck! I hope Your family is well.
Hope not too dire a reason for change of plans.
Looks like the Dorchester and Watertown locations of Kura Revolving Sushi Bar are open for part of tomorrow and offering takeout. I’d classify their sushi (and other offerings) as decent, not deluxe, but better than no sushi at all.
Out of curiosity I clicked through to Fuji Newton’s order on-line page and they seem to be offering pick-up for tomorrow. Makes me think other sushi places may be as well.
Yes I saw that, that’s why I linked it. But you never know whether someone didn’t update the system.
Thanks everyone - younger daughter is sick so I’m staying home with her while the rest of our family travels to my in-laws. In case everything is closed, I hedged my bets last night and got her favorite avocado rolls from our local place.
DoorDash and grubhub are good calls for seeing what’s open - I’m saving some of the desserts I made and shipping the rest off with my family, but feeling pretty bummed so will treat us to something!
Poor kid and poor you! I hope she turns the corner soon.
Our neighbors had to cancel their flight to NC due to both moms and their daughter getting the flu, despite being vaccinated.
Maybe you could do a Zoom/Facetime meal with the family?
ETA: Yesterday, my brother told us that my nephew complained of a sore throat on Monday followed by coughing. With 80-something parents, we asked them to take a Covid test. They had to go buy a kit and while we were waiting (we were already in the car on our way to RI with a Thanksgiving meal for 12), we started strategizing what we would do with all that food if they couldn’t come. Thankfully, it came up negative but the kid is gonna wear a mask just in case.
Thanks @digga - it’s brutal with the 80+ yo parents, and we have to protect their health! Glad that it was a negative test!
I’ll use this opportunity to wish my dear Bostonions a Happy Thanksgiving.
Grateful for my home board that is populated with smart, witty, cultured people with supremely good taste.
Yes, happy Thanksgiving to all!
Happy Thanksgiving, friends. Gratitude!
And, this being an inclusive board, riffraff such as I.
@sallyt Hope all worked out, and good recovery to your daughter. Bummer when a holiday gathering that’s so looked forward to and planned for has to be missed.
Thank you! We had day-old veggie sushi and pie. It was a bummer but ok in the end - I read a lot! She’s fine as of today so now I’m trying to wrangle something for tomorrow before we lose our college student!
