Boston Globe Lobstering expose

Anyone reading the Globe’s expose on the Maine lobstering industry? Eye-opening but not surprising. Such a double-edged sword. Do we feed into it and aid the lobstermen/women, or do we stop consuming lobster?

I’m going to read part 2 tonight.

A very sobering series. Don’t know the answer to your question.

As always, loved Jessica Rinaldi’s photos.

leave aside all the climate change doom and gloom and consider first:

lobster prices on the dock have fallen to the point lobstermen cannot pay for the fuel to go out and pick up their traps.

meanwhile at your local market, the price of lobster has not budged a penny.

people in the middle are making a killing - and killing the goose that harvests their lobsters.
