Black Forest Kitchen [Oakland]

Casual spot specializing in German doner. Then have a selection of German beers on tap and a nice outdoor patio, on a cute side street between Broadway and Telegraph. I ordered the doner original (not realizing it was the chicken, not lamb/beef). Daughter got the doner box. The bread was interesting, sort of like a torta roll, that had enough integrity to hold up the messy fillings.

I enjoyed it, but I’m a novice on these, so would defer to @honkman and @linguafood as to whether they are “authentic.”

Looks tasty, even if the bread is wrong. Döner is usually served in a(n ideally) toasted pita.

You’ll also never find jalapeños in any döners in Germany, but the trifecta of yogurt, garlic, or hot sauce (I tend to get all three).

We haven’t tried it yet but the pics looks quite promising
