We’ve been invited out for a thank you dinner. Our host knows we enjoy steak and offered the options of Mooo or Black and Blue in Burlington or Umbria in the North End.
I haven’t posted in such a forum since Chowhound days of yore and this is making me nostalgic for all the tremendous advice and recommendation we got over the years. I look forward to guidance from a new food loving pool.
Hi @tweetie. I guess as a suburbanite, I would go for Black and Blue in Burlington, even though I’ve never eaten there nor have I even heard of them. But if you live in the city and getting to the North End is easy, Umbria might be fun.
I recently had a business dinner at Moo in Beacon Hill. I went in with low expectations, but was pleasantly surprised with the quality and selection of prime beef, as well as the atmosphere. Despite the kitschy name, it’s a great spot (particularly if someone else is picking up the check). I can’t speak to how that translates to their other locations.
I have not been to Black and Blue or the new Umbria Prime in the North End, though I was previously underwhelmed by their financial district location. IIRC the previous Umbria Prime didn’t serve prime beef despite their name. I’m not sure about the new location.
Thanks, all!
I’m leaning toward B & B for convenience and lower price point. MOOO is ouch! As a guest, I’d feel guilty. $19 for Banana’s Foster?? The thought of heading into the NE on a weekend night, not so alluring!
I appreciate all the input.
