Billingsgate (San Francisco, Noe Valley)

Seafood shop and cafe in the middle of all the action on 24th St. in Noe Valley. Super casual, order at the counter. I didn’t see a drink menu but there were beers and a handful of white wines on display. Little necks were good but the shucker needs more practice. Scallop ceviche was a bit bland but super fresh. New England clam chowder was good but seemed more Rhode Island style with seemingly no dairy. The Oregon bay shrimp on toast was excellent.

Should note that Billingsgate is one prong of their operation.

Besides the storefront shop and restaurant, they are major providers to restaurants and retail/online delivery. Friends in Marin rave about their product and service, and tell us that the company tells them that they appreciate small retails orders because these customers pay up front, as opposed to running a tab like their commercial accounts.

Oh wow looks like they have some interesting products to try, and meal kits.

I’ve been ordering from Four Star since they started doing delivery during the pandemic, and quality is generally good (better than Truefish, in my experience, albeit more expensive). The poke kits are pretty good if you actually need all the ingredients in them. Sometimes they get some fun stuff in - last week there were goose barnacles, razor clams, and firefly squid. Delivery seems to consistently be around 2pm these days.
