I researched the best temperature-controlled mug as my coffee always gets cold too fast while I’m working from home. i have been experiencing drinks losing heat in under 30 minutes no matter what. i went through reviews from trusted sources like Wirecutter and TechRadar and after comparing many options these two kept coming up as the top choices:
Nextmug - Temperature-Controlled mug
Keeps drinks at your set temp (up to 150°F) for hours with a simple dial control and no app needed.
Battery lasts about 3 hours on high, includes a docking coaster for all-day charging at your desk.
Ember Temperature Control Smart Mug
App lets you set precise temp (120°F–145°F) and track drink readiness from your phone.
Battery lasts ~1.5 hours off the coaster, with LED display and sleek design for daily use.
However i am having trouble deciding which one would be better for me and i would love to get your expert advice and hoping maybe some coffee enthusiasts or tech gadget users on this forum can also share their advice.
i usually drink 2-3 cups a day at my desk. Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance
When I worked, I brought my own coffee from home in a thermos. I just found it cheaper than joining the company “Coffee Club” or going to the coffee shop below the office.
Moreover, my coffee was better and I didn’t have to leave my desk to go get the next cup. Pour a small portion out, close the lid and continue on with my day. I could also avoid the inane chit-chat (in the company kitchen) from my less than stellar co-workers.
Might I suggest an alternative course of action:
A) Buy a better mug. I use a dual-wall glass mug from Zwilling. It looks cool and keeps the drink hotter far, far longer.
B) Make sure your coffee is properly hot.
C) Pour yourself less coffee each time.
D) Drink faster…and have more coffee
Reasoning: I’m not a fan of these USB heat-producing things. First of all I don’t trust that they won’t overheat and cause a fire or something. Second, I don’t trust that they’ll last long if they do work. Third, I don’t love the idea of liquid sitting on something plugged into my computer. Fourth, I don’t think keeping a small amount of coffee hot in a little mug is going to improve its quality; quite the opposite actually. It’s going to sit there overheating and evaporating and you’re going to wind up with a hot cup of nasty tasting coffee. Anyone who grew up prior to the invention of Keurig knows well the taste of coffee that’s been sitting in the pot on the burner for a bit too long…
Anyway, just my 2c. Sorry to not answer your question directly but I hope I’ve given you an idea or two!
