Berleyside Nosh: La Marcha, tapas at 2026 San Pablo Av near University Av in West Berkeley

Haven’t tried it yet but centrally located on the west side of San Pablo AV about 4 doors south of University Ave in West Berkeley and only about 10 feet from the bus stop for the southbound AC Transit 72 lines, in case you decide not to drive your car home after too much tempranillo. The Nosh review is, for the most part, positive and, at times, overly gushing.

They have what looks like an enticing deal for their happy hour: from Tuesday - Sunday, 4-6PM & 10PM-midnight a free tapa with a purchased drink.

La Marcha is now serving weekend brunch.

Today I had the “Bravas Poutine”, an over-the-top combo of very crisp fried potato chunks, aioli, pork confit, machego and a fried egg. It was a large portion, and I had to save half of itfor later. I’m looking forward to trying the fried chicken with churros, and the bacalao cakes. Prices are in the low to mid teens, and there was a brief wait for people who got there after I did (around 12:30).

And now it looks like they’ve discontinued brunch. I found the place closed this afternoon (after a difficult time finding parking), and there’s no mention of brunch on their website anymore. I wonder why, since they were fairly busy every time I went for brunch.
