A big shout-out for the Cruffin at Beans and Buns, a small bakery/eatery in Cranston, RI.
While waiting for a nearby store to open, we popped into this establishment today and grabbed one of their Cruffins (Croissant/Muffin) for a snack. Can’t say I expected much, the display case wasn’t particularly attractive but given that it looked suspiciously like a morning bun, we decided to give it a try.
Holy cow - it was excellent! Soft tender swirled buttery crumb, just the right amount of cinnamon and sugar inside. Not as gooey as Butternut Bakehouse’s product, but still loaded with just enough flavor and tenderness to make it a winner. Two thumbs up to B & B!
@Stiv What the heck were you doing in Cvanstun? (Rhetorical question; no response requested/needed.)
The name — Beans and Buns — makes me giggle because I am very immature. But the bun sounds good, although I don’t have a sweet tooth. We sometimes find ourselves ALL the way over in that neck of the woods. Thanks for the report.
Day trip to the Providence area to visit some of the Dambo Trolls - 1000% worth it for their awesomeness. Here’s one of the newer ones - Mrs. Skipper - on the shore of Narragansett Bay in East Providence.
Also to hit up some used bookstores and local libraries - which brought us to Cranston. The William Hall Free Library is not far from Pawtuxet Village - and is a real beauty. Really gorgeous both inside and out.
Great to hear that the trolls are still there (and that new ones keep arriving). This is embarrassing to admit, but our RI house is minutes away, we’ve been to Norway twice, and we still haven’t stopped by, which is totally my fault. We will say hello to the trolls soon.
And I am a library geek but have never checked out the one you mentioned in Pawtuxet Village. Gotta fix that, too.
