Bay Area cheap/ good meals

Inspired by @brisket44 's $12 Ming Kee roasted meat rice plate find, I am interested to find out what other cheap and good eats there are around the Bay Area.

This is what I had last Wednesday at Orange Square/ Cupertino - $9.99 steamed then roasted chicken leg rice plate. They are Taiwanese. Very solid lunch that’s cooked from scratch.

SFGate reports on Little Aloha, a “Hawaii-inspired” lunch counter on Taraval in the city. Lunches as low as $6.50.

Chase Luck on Ocean Avenue, SF.
$10 lunch special (includes tax - $10.25 if you want a bag). Two items over rice or noodles, about 10 items to choose from - noodles (thick or thin) or rice (plain or pork fried). Hearty lunch. I got curry chicken and veggies (broccoli, mushrooms, cabbage and lotus root).

Little Aloha on Taraval (across the Street from Tennessee Grill). This is the large portion of the BBQ shrimp and mixed shrimp/sausage. Very good, really garlicky, the cabbage had a slight vinegary flavor. Plump shell on shrimp. Large is $16, small is $8. Although not listed on their website they also had kalua pork.

SFGate: The $5.50 SF grocery store sandwich that sells out every day

After 16 years behind the deli counter at Falletti Foods, Ornella Bouchard throws together a sandwich without a wasted motion. A ciabatta roll splits open with a few easy strokes of a bread knife, and her gloved hands get to work piling on meats: turkey, ham, pastrami and prosciutto, each layer disappearing beneath the next. After just two minutes, she puts the halves together, wraps the whole thing in plastic wrap and affixes a price sticker.

I had one of these Falletti sandwiches a while back last year. It had a bunch of cold cuts and cheese in a roll. No veg nor condiments (ETA: apparently they do have mayo and mustard, I just added some more) - you can get some mustard and mayo packets from the counter. It was a pretty good deal for around $5. I’ve tried getting another one a couple times since but they were out of them each time I looked.

I think the best thing on their menu in terms of QPR is the Moco Loco.

But I’m always happy to splurge on their Hurricane Tots. Cuz that’s just the kind of spendthrift I am.

Yeah I’ve gotten them a few times a couple years ago - I think it would be good to bring home and doctor up with some roast peppers, etc., because they had plenty of meat.

Sounds like a good idea, yeah they are not lacking for meat.
