As a fan of NC barbecue sauces, you’ll like my blog post on the best barbecue sauces
I heartily recommend Rusty Can BBQ in Byfield, MA. Everything we’ve had there has been wonderful. https://www.rustycanbyfield.com/
I do remember Blue Ribbon’s glory days. I live near the Arlington one, so I do get it from there. It’s fine, but as you said, not AS good as it was. I do wonder if the original in Newton is better.
Not sure if they carry local Okra but Indian Grocery Stores should carry it regularly. I also like the variety that they tend to grow, 5 sided dark green pods that stay tender even when quite large(long).
I believe they smoke and prepare everything at a central location and distribute it to the restaurants now. Given that, not sure if you will see a difference anymore.
I think that switch to a central location and a change in equipment was the point at which their BBQ became much more ordinary.
Same here. I don’t understand accolades, and success. Found it very average across the board.
Bumping up this thread because of Hubbas BBQ truck in Westford. Twice this summer, we’ve picked up a pint of their brisket for later dinner, alongside summer produce at home. We don’t have a smoker or wood-fired barbecue at home, so I thought why not give it a try.
Well, at Hubba’s a pint of brisket is generous. Check out my photo below. The first time I did not unpack the tightly packed container like this upon getting home. Well, the brisket stuck together in the fridge. Voila, brisket chunks.
The brisket was lean this time, and a little fatty the first time (actually better because that kept the meat moist and rendered out on the reheat). I’ll get two dinners for 2 people out of a pint, served with my own sides or used in tacos. Your mileage may vary if you enjoy larger potions of brisket.
Always. ask for the fatty (or "moist’) brisket. IT. has much better flavor and is much more tender.
Went to Reunion BBQ in the South End a few months ago and it flat out sucked. Everything from the service, the decor, the music, and the food. Do not go there.
Thanks for the heads up. We have a subscription to the Speakeasy and pass by it all the time, but hadn’t tried it (mostly due to a few online lousy reviews). Glad to hear it wasn’t a bad idea to skip it.
