We made it to Little Sage for my spouse’s birthday last night, and I’m happy to report that the pasta magic is still emanating from Tony Susi’s kitchen. And a lot more magic. We started with herbed flatbread with a crushed tomato dipping sauce, burrata with thinly-sliced beets and pistachio, and fried zucchini blossoms. All outstanding. The fry job on the blossoms was light, the burrata was one of the best and creamiest we’ve had in a long time. We shared a pasta with spring peas and ricotta, lovely bright flavors and of course al dente, and fluke with asparagus in a brown butter sauce. For dessert we shared an olive oil cake with mascarpone and amarena cherries. Just a lovely meal, and very reasonable $$.

All three cheeses we encountered (burrata, ricotta, mascarpone) were exceptional. We asked our server about sources; she wasn’t sure other than the burrata was imported from Italy.

We used to park in the Faneuil Hall parking garage when visiting the North End, but we discovered the the Haymarket garage (above Boston Public Market) has $3 for 3 hours parking if you make a purchase at the Market. We picked up some fresh pasta and a container of amatriciana sauce for less than the undiscounted cost of parking…quite a deal.

We’re thrilled Tony Susi is back at the helm of his own place. We’ll be back frequently.
