Balancing Traditional and New Recipes in Baking

Hi everyone! I’m a home baker and a mother of two kids. In my daily baking schedules, I haven’t got enough time to try out new recipes, yet I’m following the traditional recipes. I’m interested to know what others do. Do you find new recipes or stick to traditional recipes? How do you balance both?

I’ve been trying lots of new recipes in the last few years as my preferences have changed. I used to bake a lot with too many processed foods - cake & pudding mixes, vegetable oil, shortening, margarine, cool whip. I don’t use any of those ingredients anymore so can’t make some former family favorites. :slightly_frowning_face: Now I look for recipes that call for real cream, butter, in-season fruits, etc. It’s been a fun journey.

I kinda miss the Crisco Peanut Butter Cookie recipe :grimacing: but honestly there are so many terrific cookies out there that don’t have hydrogenated vegetable oil so we’ll be fine.
