Should you find yourself in this obscure lil town just an hour away from Philadelphia, and are already missing that beloved BYOB experience plus very good Mediterranean food with a Turkish bent, Aspendos Mediterranean cuisine just off campus is a good option.
A modern, bright, inviting dining room with an open kitchen that provides a nice view of the massive oven, from which the flatbreads emerge intermittently, leaving a trail of steam & intoxicating aromas while being carried to other tables.
We shared the smoked roasted eggplant with crispy garlic, poms & pistachios. Velvety, smoky, if a bit seedy.
The âballoon bread,â a puffy pita served with two dipping plates, one with olive oil, labneh & herbs, the other with Turkish red pepper paste & pom molasses was soft and crispy, with a nice seasoning. We really enjoyed & almost got a second one, but better we didnât!
Our mains were octopus (two massive tentacles) with pavé,
and a ginormous lamb shank over orzo with thyme, jus, and cream. We couldnât finish either, so leftovers went back to the room with us.
Highly recommend for anyone passing through
