For those of you interested in these kinds of places.
Fourty-odd years ago, when the dollar was strong and the franc was worth pennies, my wife and I did a vacation driving tour going from starred restaurant to the next one. In three weeks we scored twenty-odd stars. There were no tasting menus then, wine was good and cheap, and everything was absolutely delicious, except for one dessert with under-ripe strawberries. We had restaurant reservations and a rental car, but no lodging reservations. We had a ball. That was the last time we ate at a Michelin starred restaurant.
We are watching that Apple show and find it enjoyable and bizarre at the same time. The restaurants they feature make it sound like the title is the the case. Like they wont survive without a star, and in at least one case, two. But that’s simply because they are spending like one. Its like a high end shopper that shops under the assumption they’ll get the 200k bonus increase.
Wow.
