Anyone else attempting to stick to a regimen right now?

That sounds terrible- I’m so sorry. Fodzyme does say it helps with alliums, but I’ve never had a problem with alliums, and I eat them a lot. If you go to fodzyme.com, you can likely find out a lot more than I can tell you. On the web, there are comparisons between Beano and Fodzyme, with Beano being a lot cheaper assuming it will work for you.
I wish you luck.

I created a spread sheet for all the dietary restrictions and allowances and boy, was my dietitian impressed. Fodmap, SIBO, NASH, pre-diabetes…It was quite a labor of love and it served me well. I still have triggers and even today, some food reintroductions don’t work, BUT it is progress. Now if I can only get off of all those meds…

I’m not dieting intentionally, but since the election my appetite has dropped quite a bit. I can finish only half of my Sunday omelet (it’s fine the next day). I was reminded today that while I used to have two NY pizza slices for lunch, I finished one and wasn’t really hungry for the other. I don’t trust my bathroom scale, but it seems to say I’ve lost three or four pounds.

I’ve had no interest in food since the beginning of this week, either. I’m one of those folks who lose their appetite over bad news, or when I’m feeling down… the opposite of a stress-eater. Down 5lbs. since we left Philly.

I’d rather be happy and hungry, tho, IYKWIM.

Never mind!

Pardoning the Silk Road guy who got Life + 40, no chance of parole, appealed to US Supreme Court, upheld verdict. T call the prosecutors, court SCUM and set the guy free.

This is disturbing me most of all. And Mike Johnson saying January 6 was a “Peaceful Protest”

(wrong topic?)

Thread drift, I know.

I’m disturbed.

@Aubergine, @linguafood, @ernie_in_berkeley - I feel you. I was an American citizen and I renounced my citizenship last summer when I could see there was a good chance that a certain person would be elected. My fears came true.

On the topic of this thread. I’m trying to get healthy but don’t have a regimen as such, just trying to do some stuff I think might help. The fact that I work shifts makes it really hard for me to stick to regimens. Intermittent fasting works for me but I don’t stick with it when I’m very busy at work - I’ve managed to lose 6 kilograms and keep it off with a combination of intermittent fasting and moderate exercise.

For this new year I’m going to try a personal training programme to see if I can get into weight training. And I’ve just started wearing a blood glucose sensor to track my blood sugar with various meals, work situations and exercise situations.

Congratulations on losing 6 kg and keeping it off.

That’s hard to do.

I had lost around 5 kg over the first 8 months of 2023, bringing me back to my December 2019 weight.

I’ve had some stress related to non-metabolic health issues over the past 18 months, that contributed to me snacking at night, and gaining back the 5 kg I had lost between August 2023 and March 2024. I’m still working at dropping the weight. I’m down around a kg from a few weeks ago, and the same weight I was a year ago.

Thanks @Phoenikia, it’s helpful to read the experiences of others on this forum to try and keep focused. I have gotten into the habit of getting into bed very early just to avoid snacking or drinking alcohol. I read or work on my laptop. Sometimes it’s really hard and I lie awake at night just feeling hungry and wondering what I will make for breakfast. But I’ve seen the sort of health issues my parents got themselves into by not being mindful of these things at the right time in life, so I’m determined to stick with it, not for my appearance but to try and avoid things like diabetes and vascular disease.

6 kilos is a lot! Congratulations on your success so far, especially given your work schedule.

Like I’ve said before, late night snacking is the devil :smiling_imp:, for me at least. The later I stay up, the bigger the chance of acid reflux and weight gain.

I’m down 8 lbs since I got back from Philly

Sure helps not being tempted by fabulous Italian bakeries and a million restaurants, and no doubt this stewpit cold helped a bit, not to mention current events. Really killed my appetite.

Where are you now?

Your new avatar just looks like a big dark circle.

Back home, in the boonies. My new avatar is a reflection of mourning over the absolute shit show we are witnessing.

I can’t figure out where you are, in PA? Berlin?

I don’t know how I’m going to survive this. My best female friend “turned” into the cult a few years ago. She won’t read what I sent her about Silk Road, says yes, Liz Chaney deserves the death penalty.

Central PA. Berlin is a few months off yet, unfortunately. Although things aren’t looking all that great over there either. We are living in a global nightmare.

I am sorry about your friend. Thankfully, I neither have friends nor family who think that way, but I have many friends who do, and know how difficult it is to navigate — fam especially.
