Anyone else attempting to stick to a regimen right now?

That’s why you go to bed early, so evil you doesn’t have time to sway you

The best diet for you is a diet you can stick too and maintain.

It’s tough, as I well know. The only way I’ve found to judge/allow a cheat is by the scale, bodyfat or tape measure. If I don’t make an improvement, I don’t get to cheat.

Wahine is pretty good at presenting me with healthy and filling snacks that are often sweet-satisfying. Fruit, and fruits with nuts and trail mix are examples. And lately we’ve been eating relish plates of veggies and hummus long enough before true dinner to blunt our appetites to continue eating. Into the foreseeable future, I’m not doing breads except as a cheat.

Mind the rule that the faster one drops weight, generally the greater chance there is to gain it (and more) back. 1-2 lbs a week seems about right. I HATE counting calories, so I’m just trying stupid-simple things (like actually chewing my food, working out before breakfast, etc.) while I up my calorie expenditure. The treadmill reminds me how much one beer costs me.

I’ve gone through two prior phases where some internal switch flips, I get active, and lose a bunch of weight. In one, I probably lost too much. Then mysteriously the switch goes the other way. This time, I’m determined to hit a realistic and ideal weight for my age and health, and be merciless if I backslide even 2 pounds.

I’m happy with my dietician. I will send more detailed thoughts in a direct message

Even on a restrictive diet, I’ve never managed to lose more than a pound a week, even when I was in my 20s.

I weigh in on a medical scale 5 days a week, and have been tracking calories, meals, measurement and weight on an app periodically since around 2007.

If I hadn’t been doing these things, I probably would weigh more.

Do it! :facepunch:

What about GLP’s?

I am only on Vitamin D.

That’s a realistic weight loss goal for each week - a pound is about 3500 calories which means you need calorie deficiency of 500 per day

Does that help with weight loss?

No. It helps maintain bone mass.

I’m the perfect weight. I’m just too short.

I’m reminded of the Oregon footrace that requires its entrants to have belt sizes at least 6 inches greater than their inseam length. I still qualify, but hopefully not for too much longer…

I don’t understand “at least 6 inches greater than their inseam length”. Is the footrace for overweight people?

There are several unrelated bicycle races that call themselves Tour de Donut, where riders get time credits per donut consumed during the race. I’ve always wondered if I could eat myself into a negative ET!

Now that’s a bicycle race Sunshine would be glad to enter – she’d stand a good chance of winning it, as well.

My girl loves her sweets!! Which reminds me I’m almost out of deserts – need to bake something tomorrow.

Bingo. My recollection is from years ago, but I seem to remember that the vibe was to exclude runners from the race.

I’ve seen something like that and done with pie!
