Sometimes restaurants are able to accommodate groups dining together regarding check-splitting. If you are calling, maybe see what they recommend? Feel free to DM me if you want me to inquire on our behalf.
Though I agree that bringing cash is a good idea. Sometimes I get to dine with a group of 10-12 women friends, and that’s what we do.
Second this about plate sharing being probably limited to between two people. It’s not really a family-style kind of place. Although it’s a ways out, the weather looks good (famous last words) for an outside gathering. I was honestly envisioning that location as more of a happy hour, get your own food and drinks, and meet and greet kind of scene versus a large family-style seated dinner. The question about bill splitting and some ordering (pricey and delicious!) drinks is a great consideration. Thanks for bringing it up! What about a social hour with ordering your own drinks/bites, then for those who would like to remain, seated dinner at 6? I know the restaurant was unable to accommodate a large seated group- as our numbers have grown maybe this is the happy medium?
@digga in light of the current numbers, it will be just me- no Mr. Parsnipity.
If we are eating by 6pm, I’m in (sorry, it’s a workday on Monday!) for 1.
I’m wondering if they would also consider keeping a separate bill for alcohol (they do seem to emphasize their drinks) and then one for the food. That way, the drink bill could be split by those who are partaking, and the food bill can be split by everyone.
I’m happy to bring cash along. No problemo. Just read some pretty negative reviews of surly staff. Hope we get some pleasant folks. I also can tell that portions are pretty much not adequate for sharing. Good to know. But how will we know each other?? A hungry look in our eyes? Just asking… See you soon. Looking forward.
Unfortunately I need to bow out; a family obligation has just materialized. I hope it’s a great evening and that someone will post a picture or two! Will be keeping my eyes on the forum for the next one.
I loved @Parsnipity’s idea of ordering drinks and heavy snacks at 5 pm on the rooftop deck as each Onion wishes. We schmooze and anyone who wants to linger can and should. It is a school night for some of us after all (I will be able to stick around). And then we rinse and repeat (without 127 posts ). They’re closed tomorrow, so I’ll call on Wednesday and see what arrangement they recommend.
If this list is confirmed, I’m gonna take this discussion offline via direct messaging so that we don’t blow up the server!
Funny, you should say that, I was starting to feel like Julie the Cruise Director (albeit much less perky).
Welcome aboard!
PS I have a couple of work deadlines on Monday and Tuesday and they aren’t going great. So I probably won’t be staying to shut the place down on Sunday.
PPS We had a rule in the CH days that the last arrival was responsible for starting the post-meal reporting thread and I think it was a good rule. For an unknown reason, the reservation is for 5:15 pm but they open at 5 pm.
Next time! We did have a blast, due to the wonderful company of generous HOs but unfortunately not the service at the restaurant. I suspect details will emerge.
A waiter insisted on trying to memorize our orders and failed. A kitchen that refused to let one member of our party (we were on the terrace) order a dish off the dining room menu. The dining room was sparsely populated so the kithcen wasn’t slammed. Inexplicable.
