america’s test kitchen 25th anniversary show

worth a watch — interesting behind the scenes info, including how the science segments began with john wlloughby. plus bridget and julia make some favorite recipes for their colleagues. however,

the original cast members were acknowledged, but i christopher kimball, who created the show in 2001 and left in 2016 after a contract dispute, was invisible. i get that it was an awkward situation, but it still felt weird — it was a though he never existed.

At Costco I looked at the 25th Anniversary cookbook, BIG, I’ll probably get one for myself and one for a friend’s 13 year old daughter who is tackling recipes, like Smitten Kitchen’s Chocolate Cloud Cake. First try came out pretty good.

In this book is my favorite biscuit type scone, British style, comes out looking exactly like what you get on those tiered trays at Afternoon Teas.

About $27. (It’s $40.50 on Amazon)

I just watched it. It was interesting, but it’s hard to ignore there is no Christopher Kimball.

It reminds me that I still have at least one Cooks Magazine; before it became Cooks Illustrated.

I caught the second half and enjoyed it.

I didn’t miss Kimball… Ive never liked him, don’t watch Milk Street, and ATK is much more fun to watch without him.

The more i watch Milk Street the more I enjoy it. Their cookbooks are great so well organized. You never have to flip pages to see the whole recipe and they always come out great. I know he isnt liked by many but i have gotten over it.

I’ve learned a great deal from catching episodes.

Me, too.
