Get tired of eating in fancy restaurant with wonderful food and nice decoration? Here is a place for you if you like more edgy hippy adventures.
Do you know Freegan Pony? It first started as a squat restaurant with a social cause - reduce food waste. Tucked away in an empty building in the 19th district, volunteers get hold of the fruits and vegetables normally going to the trash from the Rungis wholesale market, transport them. Some volunteer chefs liked would transform what they can into lovely vegetarian dishes! You decide the amount you would like to pay after the meal. Usually opened on Friday and the weekend, it was closed since last June for some work done (in reality legalise the restaurant), recently I heard they will be reopening soon (march?).
I don’t know if there is the same kind of movement in other countries. Personally I’m curious.

Once or twice a month, on Thursday night (between 18h - 22h30), the streets between the metro stations Menilmontant and Couronnes in Paris transform into food streets, with the installations of around 20 food stalls similar in a market, selling freshly prepared food from different cuisines. You can sit at the commun tables or take-away. The price is under 10€ for each portion. This is to imitate the street food culture we can find in other countries.
For the next date or more information, you can find it on their official website:
