Thanks again for this @onzieme. You have convinced me to plan a lunch at this restaurant. What could possibly be added to the longer menus? I, for one, could not eat more than what you were served! Cheers.

We usually take the three-course menu. One of my problems at dinner vs lunch is there is just too much at dinner.

I think that might be my problem, too, with “tasting”/no-choice menus! Brilliant. Thanks.

Absolutely loved lunch there in March and plan a return visit in December.

Do you recall how long that lunch took? We have a plane to catch but if this can be done in 2 hours that would be perfect!

I’d go with @sfcarole! She has the receipts. Literally!

I’d let them know ahead and do the shorter menu maybe. Should not be a problem. I’m looking forward to returning there for lunch!

Everyone who thinks lunch is the way to go is right! We had lunch there last week and it was wonderful! Great atmosphere, divine food, warmest service ever.

On our visit for lunch last spring, we brought my Canadian aunt and uncle, who speak fluent (Quebecois) French. My uncle enjoyed speaking with Shawn and the chef.

The tuna course had a major faux pax where some of the plastic wrapping for the tuna was still attached when served to some of us. [A few minutes later the chef came out and apologized profusely to my uncle.]

One of the waiters was somewhat aggressively flirting with / hitting on our 25 year old daughter. I actually thought it was fine enough during the meal, but as we were leaving he came outside to talk to her again, which was perhaps a bit much (though I suppose had she been interested it would not have…).

The food was fine, but not as good as it had been on other visits.

Not that the meal was bad, please don’t misunderstand. But for me it wasn’t up to previous visits.

I’m delighted to hear that my experience was likely a one-off.

I smile because my husband and I befriended the beautiful young daughter of our host in the country. We treated her to dinner whenever we were in Paris. It was amusing to watch the young waiters vying to attend to our table.

Onz, this is very nicely described, as usual. We thank you for introducing us to this lovely restaurant seven or eight years ago — it remains for us, like you, one of our favorite In Paris (or, for that matter, anywhere).

By the way, in our eight+ or so visits — just the two of us, sometimes four, sometimes three of us — we’ve never experienced anything except highly professional and genuinely friendly and personable service. In fact, that’s one of the hallmarks of the place.

Is Antoine still working there?

@onzieme - Thanks again for your wonderful contribution! We learned about Alliance on a PBM cheese tour in Dec last year, booked immediately, had an amazing experience. We are booked at Alliance on May 19th. The occasion is to introduce our niece to fine dinning in Paris as an adult. We brought her to Paris when she was young, and stuck with bistros, but could not think of a more appropriate place to intriduce her to fine dining than Alliance!
