Aldi — YAY / NAY / MMMMMKAY 2026

YAY! The tzatziki tater chips are back, as are the rosemary feta ones!!! Are they salty? Fuck yeah. That’s kinda the point for potato chips

Also got the Guinness ones for good measure. Third bag’s a charm

Then there was this jar my PIC had to get, natch.

Haven’t tried it yet. Will report back.

Neither of us cared to check these out, however:

And these? These are almost worse than the grilled cheese from the freezer section.

I already devoured the tzatziki and rosemary-feta ones. They were delicious!

Ill have to see if the other flavors show up at my store.

Im a sucker for weird chip flavors so Id have tried the reuben ones!

A solid YAY for the Guinness chips. Malty, not too salty, not weird / artificial tasting. Grabbed another bag today (they’re on the smol side) :face_savoring_food:

I did not get this one. I don’t know what “shamrock extract” is supposed to taste like.

How do we feel about this frozen product?

Deep fried Reuben sounds like a pretty good drinking snack but I can’t imagine the filling is made with high quality anything.

I have a general Aldi’s question. A new Aldi’s opened very near me and I went once. I guess I expected a Trader Joe’s experience because of this topic, but was disappointed. The store seemed to be more than half non-food items and I was really underwhelmed by the food. We get a weekly circular from the store and it features very basic grocery items (grapes, tomatoes, basically just staples) and non food stuff. Definitely not like The Fearless Flyer). Could this be my local area or is the ‘interesting’ food a minor part of their usual mix? Do you just have to explore to find the treasures?

Well, this and older Aldi threads will def help you find some treasures.

TJ’s it is not. A lot of their produce, cheeses, meats & fish are very good quality and much cheaper than other stores. Their bagged spinach for example is the cheapest in town. Their bistro bread is fantastic.

The non-food items are fun to check out, and often have some winners.

Large, deveined, wild-caught gulf shrimp currently in the freezer at 12oz for $5.99.

Have not yet tried them, but that’s a good price!

Just an MMMMKAY for the shrimp bites, which became sort of a 2nd snacky dinner after shitty Sam’s Club pizza. They’re well seasoned and actually have detectable pieces of shrimp, but they still needed the dipping sauce I’d whipped up just in case while they were in the AF.

Would not buy again.

Have to change my OG YAY for the sesame brioche bunz to a NAY NAY NAY.

10g of sugar? No thx. Guess we’ll stick with Wegner’s sesame kaiser rolls from now on.

Those 10g are probably why you gave them a YAY in the first place.

Doubtful. I don’t care for sweet bread (as opposed to sweetbreads, which are delicious), and only liked these bc they are relatively sturdy, i.e. stand up to a juicy patty, have lotsa sesame seeds, and — get this: did not taste as sweet to me as other brioche.

Sneaky b’stards!

I liked them better, too. Haven’t been in stock the last 2 times I’ve been in.

Did I miss this being brought back? Larger loaf? Saw it in the ad a couple of weeks ago, picked it up Thursday. Bottom shelf, slightly concealed under the shelf above.

My loaf is slightly stale.

$5.19, 24 oz

That used to be our go-to before the bistro bread showed up. Happy to see it back, tho.

A solid HECK YEA for the applewood smoked bacon.

A solid YEA for their almost consistently good frozen seafood and ‘fresh’ (FKAF) fish.

The steelhead trout filet I picked up today was excellent quality, and at $10.99/lb. practically a steel

Also a YEA for these fishwife tuna tins being available there for $5.99. Haven’t tried them yet but heard such good things about the brand.

Fishwife @ Aldi - never would have expected that. Only thing from the ‘conservas aisle’ at Aldi I’ve ever liked was the Skipjack tuna I think and I don’t even look at that section when I’m shopping but have seen numerous recommendations of FIshwife products online.

I’ve been ordering conservas from Amazon since I don’t know where to find a good selection here. I’ve got some Fishwife Smoked Salmon w/Sichuan chili crisp but haven’t tried it yet.
