I have a general Aldi’s question. A new Aldi’s opened very near me and I went once. I guess I expected a Trader Joe’s experience because of this topic, but was disappointed. The store seemed to be more than half non-food items and I was really underwhelmed by the food. We get a weekly circular from the store and it features very basic grocery items (grapes, tomatoes, basically just staples) and non food stuff. Definitely not like The Fearless Flyer). Could this be my local area or is the ‘interesting’ food a minor part of their usual mix? Do you just have to explore to find the treasures?
Well, this and older Aldi threads will def help you find some treasures.
TJ’s it is not. A lot of their produce, cheeses, meats & fish are very good quality and much cheaper than other stores. Their bagged spinach for example is the cheapest in town. Their bistro bread is fantastic.
The non-food items are fun to check out, and often have some winners.
Just an MMMMKAY for the shrimp bites, which became sort of a 2nd snacky dinner after shitty Sam’s Club pizza. They’re well seasoned and actually have detectable pieces of shrimp, but they still needed the dipping sauce I’d whipped up just in case while they were in the AF.
