AI controversies and food photography

not really used GROK much but after all the negative publicity in the UK media this past week, thought i’d try enhancing one of my photos with the prompt “make this burger look more delicious”…

Original -

GROK enhanced -

Double exposure of both images -

Nice tool, very quick and good base results, i think.

I don’t need EM’s shitty AI tool. My phone’s inbuilt AI does a better job.

If you’re using your phone to take photos, the filters that are available do a very nice job of enhancing, brightness lighting etc.

If you’re using a phone to take a photo you are already likely using AI behind the scenes as they make many adjustments to deal e.g. with the small sensor and lens. Same when you use the auto enhance, etc. features in say Google Photos.

I’ve been using the auto button in Lightroom when processing camera photos, which I believe also uses AI / ML, it usually works pretty well especially as a starting point.

I think I underexposed this picture a bit.

I thought these features on smartphones are AI-driven.
I see Mr Happy has elaborated on this.

I think we’re far past the point of being able to opt out of AI. That said, I never consciously make the decision to use AI features for writing, searches, etc.

responsibility?

A lot of people are enamored of AI for various reasons, but it is predatory of actual creators, as well as an environmental catastrophe in the making.
