Day two lunch/taco tour.
I chose Club Tengo Hambre Condesa Taco tour because of my nieces recommendation, but I’m sure you can’t go wrong with any of the other options.
There was supposed to be another couple joining the tour, but they had to cancel so it was just me and the super hot and knowledgeable guide, whose name escapes me at the moment
Any who, on to the feast!!
Stop #1 was La Hortaliza on a bust street not far from the subway. I picked the Chile Relleno stuffed with cheese. Super tasty .
#2 -street vendor for 1/2 squash blossom and half mushroom and special corn (?) excellent.
#3- Tacos Don Juan for a busted+longoniza+ queso taco. This was probably my favourite of the bunch.
#4- back of a truck taco with brisket and pork belly. Very good, but by this point I was pretty stuffed.
#5- was a pastry from a shop I forgot to photograph. I took it to go because we still had two more stops.
#6- last street taco for blue corn tortillas stuffed with cactus, onion and queso. Twas good, but at this point in the game I could barely finish the half that we split.
Last stop was the Mercado Medellin for a walk around and then stopped for a much needed, refreshing popsicle from a stand just outside. Very tasty but I wish it was more on the sour side as that’s my preference for popsicles.
It was a fantastic day of walking, talking about the history of the food and neighbourhoods we visited and all the delicious tacos of course.
I love food tours and will continue to book them whenever I visit a new city.
