2025 Orient Food Crawl - Taipei to Hong Kong....Airport food, Street food and Hotel recs!

For this third stage of our trip, we caught a late morning flight on EVA Air, from Taipei to Hong Kong. The plane used for this ultra short haul flight was again a brand new Boeing 787-9 Dream liner. Impressive!

Before boarding, we forsake the chance of grabbing a complimentary bite from the Airline Lounge. Instead, we decided to venture into the terminal’s food court in search of one final Taiwanese bash. As with most International airport terminals in the Orient, the choice of food vendors are amazing. Inside Taipei’s Taoyuen International, we were confronted with pot-pouri of exotic fare from Taiwanese fried chicken, XLB, Taiwanese braised beef noodles, Chinese and Northern Dim Sums, rice and noodles to Gourmet Burgers and pastas … .etc.

For CAD17, we each selected the following unbelievable value Taiwanese luncheon set menu. The dishes included crispy fried pork chop, stewed ‘ lou ‘ minced pork and soy marinated egg on rice, stir fried morning glory, winter melon and rice vermicelli soup, red beans and mochi dessert soup plus a musk melon bubble tea!! Absolutely incredible for the money and they all tasted pretty darn delicious too. Special mention has to go to those greaseless, well seasoned, super savory and juicy fried Pork Chop. Who would have thought one of the best bites to date will be at an Airport terminal food stall?!

Upon arrival at Hong Kong, my wife

moved back home to stay with her Mom whilst I picked a conveniently located, cozy and clean hotel in the ‘foodie district’ of Jordan just to stay for the night. After enjoying a nice refreshing shower, I made a short hop across the road to the famed Temple and Parkes streets for some yummy noodles and congees! Happy! Happy! Happy!

The next morning, upon checking out, I just carried my unpacked luggage next door to the much newer, nicer and more modern hotel - ‘The Stage‘. Generous size room with comfortable bed, high tech amenities, in-room triple filtered drinking water, large screen smart TV with sports and business channels and a gorgeous view!..all these, plus within walking distance to the MTR station and tons of great eateries! Highly recommended!
