If looks could kill!!!..Then I am dead just by staring down at some of these foods!![]()

I met up with my brother and family for a casual dinner at this Hong Kong institution! Based on past experiences, all the way back to my childhood days, I was really looking forward to savouring some of their nostalgic and famous house specials?..roasted Sha-Tin style pigeon, stir-friend beef Ho-Fun in Swiss sauce….to name a few!
Sadly, the few ‘past glory‘ dishes we ordered, not only did not look appetizing, their monochrome appearances actually looked downright scary!!
Besides the acceptable Hong Kong style Russian Borscht, the rest of the dishes we ordered were unappealing in presentation, heavy, over-sauced, nonchalantly and badly executed.
The bland and over priced roasted pigeon was partially burnt and covered with flabby, non crispy skin. The meat and carcass are absolutely tasteless. The bowl of side, Maggi based dipping sauce was totally impotent in rescuing this disastrous scenario.
Another ugly looking, one-dimensional tasting dish … .Baked pork chop with escargots in a brown gravy, topped with cheese was a joke! To come up with such a heavy, greasy, weird and unpalatable dish, the chef must be sleepwalking?
The usually, well executed and popular Stir fried Beef Ho-Fun noodles in Swiss sauce completed the trio of disastrous dishes. So overly sauced and gloomy looking, the photo I posted speaks a thousand words. I was wondering if the chef was still debating to himself whether to ‘ impromptu’ make this dish a soup dish or a stir-fried dish?!..with us the guinea pig?! Ha!![]()
Well, nothing is perfect!! You win some, you lose some!
Glad there was some yummy street food nearby in the side streets!
