I’m here for the peppermint bark only.
A sensible stance.
Except $100 is INSANE. Then again - this whole catalog remains laughably insane. ![]()
omg…
LOLOL!
You can occasionally find peppermint bark elsewhere. I have.
This is my favorite holiday thing.
Yes, I’ve seen peppermint bark elsewhere.
I think the food items are laughably insane. $20 margarita salt? $50 beef wellington bites? $20 for a jar of “peppermint snow” which is just a bunch of crushed candy canes? $70 for 2 dozen biscuits?
But the cookware they sell is of high quality, and I swear by their dishtowels.
Clearly they are making their margins off of people who can’t mix a simple turkey brine–oh wait, that’s on sale for only $16.
The peppermint bark was a little selective cherry picking. 1 lb box is $34.xx, and you 4 lbs for $139.xx. $34 is kind of high. 1 lb of See’s candy goes for $32…
The WS catalog sort of reminds me of the old Neiman Marcus Christmas catalogs with their wildly expensive and insanely elaborate gifts such as 1967’s His & Hers camels, $4,125. Take that $100 peppermint bark!
Wasn’t there also some kind of small motor car for a child about 6 years old size, many decades ago, that cost several thousand? I’m glad not to be that “aspirational”!
I’d love to see a ‘hater’s review of the Neiman Marcus catalog.
It was a BMW, if memory serves.
I was at a Home Goods in Salem, NH a few weeks ago, and their food section had bags upon bags upon jars upon jars of crushed peppermint candy - all for a helluva lot less than $20, but still more than I’d want to pay for the convenience.
Meanwhile, you can buy a bag of mini candy canes, unwrap them, put them in a ziplock bag and crush them with a rolling pin for maybe $4.00. ![]()
SMASH that candy! Might be excellent for working off some of that pre-holiday stress, too ![]()
