I noted on the other thread that the Rustic Red is pretty good. My local GO has had a bunch of cheeses from that brand; I’ll get some today if they’re still there.

I have been following the GO threads for the past couple of years and am always hesitant to post because I worry what I am posting about will not be current anymore. :stuck_out_tongue: But the past few days GO in Oregon has been getting Canada origin tri-tips brand named Blue Ribbon at about 4lbs in size with a nice fat cap for just 3.99 a pound. At least here in Oregon, tri-tip of a lower quality is 9 to 11 per pound at FM or SW. It’s a great savings but the packaging is super generic so I’m not seeing it sell out as quickly as you would think, people are overlooking it.

Welcome!
Where are you in Oregon?
That’s a bargain.
I’ll set sail for Medford tomorrow and see whether we have those.

I’m in the Portland metro area and have seen them the past few weeks in various GOs with new shipments just coming in on Monday. I actually saw them being unboxed so I know they are current.

Thanks!
We’ve got 5 now in the Rogue Valley but I usually only hit Medford.

I can’t claim that kind of self control. I work in different locations around the Portland metro so I stop at two or three different locations per week. It’s a small but embarrassing hobby. I have been picking up the largest ones everytime I pop in.

Ha! I’m a fellow hobbyist in Monterey/Santa Cruz and sometimes Bay Area
Thanks for posting

Picked up an 18-month cheddar from the Westminster brand yesterday as well as a 12-month Manchego (different brand).

Baked Epic Pork Rinds for 1.99 a bag. These are the large bags, 7 oz a bag. I love these for breading and in things like meat loaf but can’t afford them all the time. This price per ounce for a very clean product (fat and salts) is pretty rare so I stocked up. Also, frankly, it’s like styrofoam and will last forever.

Recently at Oakland Grocery Outlet -

$3.99/7.9 oz - Greco Halloumi grilling cheese, from Cyprus, made with cow, sheep and goat milk. It has the “PDO” stamp certificate of origin. This is the real deal; bake it, fry it, grill it, it doesn’t melt.

from YouTube, a recipe for grilled halloumi -

Flaming Grilled Halloumi Cheese “Saganaki”

49 cents/10 oz. - Lantana White Bean Roasted Garlic Hummus. Made in Canada. This is a closeout sale because the Best By date is in a day or two. I bought 7 tubs.

There were also tubs of a cream cheese spread for 29 cents each.

Grocery Outlet signs lease at old North Beach Safeway
The Standard 23Jan2025

Grocery Outlet has signed a 15-year lease agreement to open a store at the Northpoint Centre at 350 Bay St., marking the company’s sixth location in San Francisco.

Grocery Outlet CEO Eric Lindberg said he expects the store will open sometime in early 2026, subject to the city approving their plans, which he expects will be filed within the next month and a half.

I first read that story a few months ago, so I was hoping it would be open by now. I work not too far away, and it’ll be great to see items that don’t come to my less-upscale local GO.
