2025 - Extended Orient Food Crawl - Hong Kong Day 4.....Finally, An impressive Michelin star meal!

Tan’g Court, Langham Hotel - A special Lunch at a special place on a special day with a special person!

Tan’g Court is one of Hong Kong’s three prestigious Michelin 3 * Chinese restaurants. This venue was chosen for its convenient Kowloon location. Based on head count, it offers a flexible Dim Sum menu where patrons can have the option to custom order the quantity of made-to-order Dim Sim pieces!

However, for the foodie in me (us) , what really led me to pick this place was their menu’s impressive and mouth-watering line-up of dishes! In addition to offering refined takes on traditional Dim Sum, the regular a-la-carte menu also features a whole slew of yummy delights that included a couple of my favorite cravings. They are an award winning Baked Stuffed Crab Shell and a hard to find stir fried/oil poached fresh frog legs paired with roasted honey glazed Jinghua Chinese Ham.

My wife and I selected the following Dim Sum pieces as amuse bouche:

- Special Ocean Prawns Har Gow with diced Winter bamboo shoots

- Baked shredded turnips and Chinese ham turnovers

- Taro croquettes with diced roasted duck and shitake mushroom fillings

For entree, we had:

- Baked stuffed Crab Shell ( all King crab and Flower crab meat with caramelized onion bits in a velvety cream sauce…..all meat, no fillers! So luxurious and tasty!.. we were left speechless! )

- Stir fried fresh frog legs with aromatics, paired with roasted honey glazed Jinghua Chinese Ham ( Heavenly delicious! Indeed the sweet and delicate meat tasted like chicken….but better! Been waiting to savour this for 9 years! Well worth the wait! )

- Braised E-Fu noodles with abalone sauce and wild mushroom medley. ( dainty, intricate taste profile and fulfilling )

Desserts of:

- Musk Melon and Coconut milk Jello ( refreshing and fragrant )

- Freshly ground Almond dessert soup ( Rosy’s favorite. Perfumed and smooth, not overly sweet )

An epic, incredibly delicious and memorable lunch worthy of its 3*

Michelin rating!

As I expected, he’s familiar with Tan’g Court. He and his wife recently dined at this place’s sister restaurant, so to speak, i.e. Ming Court, which has one Michelin star. He thought it was just as good & a bit cheaper.

Small world! My wife’s bride’s maid was actually the personnel director of the Cordis Hotel ( Former Langham, Mong Kok ) and its restaurant Ming Court. When my wife and I first dined at Ming Court it was a Michelin 2 . In the past, during my frequent HK visits, I also organized a few ‘ chowmeets ‘ there with specially crafted menu by the head chef. Sadly, Chef ‘ Mango ‘ died young ( 50-ish ) and the restaurant lost a star. Attached menu and food of one of the chowmeets at the 2 Ming Court
