2025 - Extended Orient Food Crawl - Hong Kong Day 2

Lunch - The Horizon, Aberdeen Mariner Club, Hong Kong

Meeting up with a decades old college buddy and wife for a Dim Sum lunch gathering.

Sure, Hong Kong has its fair share of good Michelin star Dim Sum restaurants, a few even garnered 3* status. However, the impressive and delightful Dim Sum luncheon at this prestigious, members only club, can easily rub shoulders with some of Hong Kong’s creme

de la creme!
The appealing, compact menu, featuring a mix of refined, traditional and innovative Cantonese Dim Sum plus a few added nostalgic creations from yester-years, made our selection process a challenging affair.

After a few iterations, our collaborative decision making effort resulted in creating a sumptuous Dim Sum lunch menu to remember!

We ordered a plate of perfectly seasoned and charred centre-cut Iberico Pork Char Siu. A rare find of classic Fried Wonton with Sweet and Sour sauce was added without hesitation. Next, an order of delightful and creative, freshly baked, Matcha infused, BBQ Pork buns. Traditional Har-Gow and Taro croquettes followed. The latter with diced roasted duck, chives and shitake mushrooms filling…..so juicy and good! A smoky, mildly spicy and savory XO sauce stir fried Cheung-fun with ample wok-hay plus an umami packed braised Chinese Mustard Greens with Chinese Ham in a Shan-Tong chicken broth rounded off our near perfect meal! The dessert of duo Mango and coconut jello pudding was lovely and refreshing, not overly sweet.

BTW, the view from our window table, overlooking the yacht club and harbour, was spectacular and breathtaking!

Great food plus great memory and company……PRICELESS!!
