Our eating itinerary today includes a long anticipated, authentic Shanghainese supper at an award winning restaurant. As such, we have decided to meet up with our good Calgarian friends of 40+ years and settled for just a light lunch at this relatively new fusion, Hong Kong cafe style eatery.
Food at this cozy and quaint place was surprisingly good and beyond expectation. The ‘ Hong Kong High-End Hotel Kitchen ‘ trained chef managed to kick up common and popular dishes to another level by adding appealing and refined ingredients to enhance and elevate the status of the dishes. The use of much more flavourful, free-range Loong Kong chicken meat in the Wasabi chicken salad was such a welcoming approach. The addition of exotic fermented bean curd and rice crackers to improve the taste profile and textural interaction of the delectable Clam Chowder was a masterful touch. Selecting priced Salt Spring mussels and clams for dishes reflects the high standard set out by the chef. The addictively good French fries they paired with were some of the best I have come across.
All in all, a delightful and enjoyable meal amongst great company!
The after-lunch walk around Stanley Park was most enjoyable. So tranquil and relaxing. The gorgeous sunny weather completed a perfect picture! If only my European Food-Crawl a few months back was accompanied by such fine weather! Sigh!!
