NYT Food part is becoming worse and worse - missing “trends” just by a few years (or sometimes a decade) and just desperately trying to fill their pages with some “information”
Not so hidden anymore, are they
Like the unspoiled and uncrowded island close to Bali they wrote about the other day, soon to be crowded and spoiled.
No one goes there anymore, it’s too crowded
Never mind. Maybe I shouldn’t try to figure out where it is.
LOL!
I read the article and didn’t see the author making the claim that this was a new trend — especially since speakeasy bars have been around for about a century.
Their ongoing popularity seems to indicate that they’re still going strong.
Maybe you should altogether avoid reading these if you already know that you’ll find them annoying and unhelpful. Unless hate-reading stuff is your thing
I enjoyed reading this list. Do you plan going to the Truffle Pig one in Berlin?
I saw they listed one in London but I’m not sure I’ll ever get to it as it’s in Hackney, where I never really go. I’m now at an age where my favourite alluring spot to drink is on my living room sofa - I only need to stagger up one flight of stairs to conk out in my bed.
I don’t know yet. It’s located in the epicenter of hipsterdom, and that’s just not my scene, but I’ll have a look at reviews beyond this one.
We’re meeting a friend for dinner in that nabe on Friday, so a nightcap is possible.
Same, and I’m usually quite happy with my PIC’s martinis, martinezzzes, margaritas & gimlets. Saves a buncha $$$, too
