I can’t remember where you are that you get steelhead.

I’m in Florida so Costco :disappointed_relieved:

You get steelhead at effing Costco?!?!? I gotta pay more attention at mine. xoc

That’s it says on the label ???

Oh I totally believe you. I’m just jealous. We’ll be in Seattle next week and I’ll see what our options are.

catching up here again on your wonderful meals.

a rundown of this week:
Saturday night my sister and I went out for sushi at a place that we used to frequent that had new owners - a huge upgrade. besides the sushi we had an excellent seafood okonomiyaki and rock cod in a miso paste.

Sunday i made the portuguese bifanas with the massa pimentao using red peppers i’d cured for 3 days. really great flavor, meat was tender. i’ve got more of the peppers curing now. please ignore that salad. i’m trying to forget its existence. that lovely sandwich didn’t need a salad anyway!

Monday night was out - popcorn (buttered) a movie (Spotlight) and a cocktail (Smoky Paloma) with a GF.

Tonight the BF took some chouriço i bought and “hasselbacked” it, got a nice char on it just in a toaster oven, and made rice pancakes doctored up with green onion, leftover nam prik pao i made a couple weeks ago, and onions i caramelized this weekend in the slow cooker. couple a salads on the side.

up tomorrow night is “bean toast”, as the BF likes to call it. i made a small pot of cannellinis on Sunday with some smoky bacon, sage, and garlic, which will go over toasted bread and drizzled with olive oil. also, tonight i sauteed mushrooms with garlic and thyme, and that will go over some toast as well. some kind of salad on the side.

I haven’t been to the cinema in the morning since I was about 10. But we’re going today - I was bought a couple of ticket vouchers as a Xmas present. There hasnt been much I’ve wanted to see so far this year but have settled on “Dad’s Army”.

Afterwards, we’re going to a nearby suburb for lunch and food shopping - they have adjacent cheesemongers and fishmongers. That’ll provide a lightish dinner. After that, it’s the “big shop” at the supermarket.

So, that’ll be mussels cooked in cider & shallots, sprinkling of parsley. Crusty bread as the carb

And, if peckish, we’ve now got Quicke’s cheddar and Hoe’s Red Leicester to accompany the Bourne’s Cheshire that was already in.

Your Biffana looks better than mine in Porto!

Did you have Chouriço assado in PT? It comes to the table hung on a wooden stand, the waiter sets it ablaze with aguardiente before your eyes. One of things Portuguese start their meal with (when dining out). I have had that but my favourite starters were either cold prawns, sardinas assadas, perceves (or all 3 at the same time).

WFD: ~ Barley Pilaf with Mushrooms: EVOO; chopped onions; bay leaf; pearl barley (which I continually call Pearl Bailey); chicken broth; mixed mushrooms; S & P; minced parsley.
~ Sauted Cabbage with Eggs: thin strips of pork, white pepper; peanut oil; garlic; shredded cabbage; hot Hungarian paprika; S & P.

Boston has broken all temperature records today with a high of 75F. The earliest for such a temperature in early March, which are usually in the low and mid 40sF. I suppose that ought to cause a YAY from my little corner but alas, back to cooler days and rain ahead.

WWFD: ‘Homeburgers’ as I call them. Beef patty, chimichurri, mayonnaise, onions (fried and also quick pickled), lettuce, green (unripe) tomato. No bun, but sliced bread instead. I prefer a low bread to filling ratio.

WFD: I was planning on making a lentil and ricotta salad. I’ve even got a big bottle of excellent quality milk to make the ricotta with however I’m battling a head cold and the bloke may have to go to a function so it looks unlikely. There’s freezer soup for tonight and the salad can be made tomorrow for a pot luck dinner (with many vegetarian guests) we’re supposed to attend.

Sketti & sawce. That’s it. Too tired for anything else. It was supposed to be plain poached chicken and rice, but the Frankenchicken breast hadn’t defrosted. I’ll do that tomorrow.

After an awful day/week of work that has finally ended. Tonight is fairly simple. Leftover pulled pork over leftover rice with whichever sauce is in the 'fridge (BBQ, teriyaki, ect.) for Hubby and I. My very under-weight toddler & I will “share” a high calorie protein milkshake. She doesn’t quite go for food that solid yet. Trying to come up with high calorie diet she will eat without it being junk is a challenge.

I’d suggest (humbly of course!) that you might want to start a thread about her diet. BTW how old is she? “Toddler” is relative to me

I defrosted some of my bone broth , and a nice piece of bread . It’s nice to start eating again after a bout with the stomach flu . My appetite is back YAY . :grinning:

She is 3.5 years old & weighs only 24 lbs (most 3-4 yr old are x 2 that weight). She just started to wear 18 month old clothes 2 months ago. We work with a pediatrician, registered diatation, a GI specialist, speech therapist, occupational therapist, neurologist and cardiologist trying to get her to gain weight. Since she has very little fat she looks like a mini body builder.

DH had a business dinner and I had a networking event. I was solo for dinner. The photogenic part was a radicchio, fennel, avocado and blood orange salad. Not shown were TJ’s spinach kale bites and a few kettle chips. There was wine.
