[London] Aussie tucker at Lantana, London Bridge

Lantana sought to recreate the casual vibe of an Aussie cafe, and does a pretty admirable job at that. Expensive London rents normally make it difficult for a cafe to replicate the laid-back ambience and spaciousness of its Sydney or Melbourne counterparts. But I find Lantana’s clean-bright furnishings and the breezy attitude of the friendly wait-staff do give that casual, care-free feeling of being in an Aussie set-up, even as Borough Market was just a few minutes’ walk away round the corner.

Bubble ‘n’ squeak, with Cumberland sausage, poached egg, black pudding, Muhammara and sauteed spinach (£13.50) - not cheap at all as I paid the same amount at The Ivy for a full English which tasted better. Or I can go back to Maria’s in Borough Market and pay £5 for something more substantial
([London] Maria's Market Cafe at Borough Market).

I rather enjoyed the Monte Carlo biscuit (£2.60) a whole lot more.

Coffee is pretty good here - strong and aromatic. Shades of Prahran Market.
