Welcome to nominations for our July, 2022 Cookbook of the Month. For those of you new to this post series, here is how it works: Each month we choose a book to cook from as a group. We start by nominating books we’re interested in, and we’ll later choose from the books with the most nominations.
You many nominate as many books as you wish. Please nominate with the intention of joining us in cooking from the book and reporting on the dishes you make, should your nominee be selected. In order to nominate, please put the name of the book in ALL CAPS in the comments below. Only titles in all caps will be counted as nominations.
Nominations will end SUNDAY, JUNE 18 at 11 PM GMT/7 PM EDT/4 PM PDT, and the books with the most nominations will move on to a vote. The book that receives the most votes will be our JuLY COTM. A reporting thread will be posted on July 1.
Don’t forget, there is still plenty of time to participate in our June COTM, Edward Lee Monthand you can always add reports to past COTMs, which are archived here, or use this thread for reports on pre-March 2029 COTMs.
Just a note that for people whose public libraries subscribe to Hoopla, it has Gullah Geechee Home Cooking as an on-demand ebook. (It also has, among other things, all Julia Turshen and Joshua McFadden’s cookbooks, and Amá and Heritage among other old COTMs.
I think one of BF grilling books would be good. The ones I have are " Boy Gets Grill" and “Grilling For Life”. Not nominating them at this time, but would be onboard if others have one of these.
I usually just tag onto nominations, but haven’t seen a lot that I can get from the library in time. I used to just buy them, but don’t want to acquire books that I may not want to cook from again.
That said, I am next on the list for COOK REAL HAWAII, so I’ll go with that.
I know this is a late nomination and is unlikely to go anywhere, but I want to put it out there, if for no other reason that a reminder to myself to nominate it next month.
THE BROAD FORK by Hugh Acheson. It is a produce-centered book, but is not vegetarian.
