Gochujang??
Sorry no pic, I don’t have any in stock – just a cheap “knock off” I got from Walmart that says “Red Fermented Paste”.

Boysenberry - although I’ve never had them, I like the word
Marshmallow
Boysenberries are similar to blackberries.
I love “blueberries,” but much prefer calling them booberries ![]()
That’s what my sister calls them as well.
Roughly translates to “thank you for the meal”. ETA: Maybe more accurately, “I am grateful for the meal/food”.
I have always liked “Mangia!”, especially when said with gusto.
Those were actually pretty vile. LOL
If I listed Italian food words here, the list would go on ad finitum.
My favorite food-adjacent Italian phrase to say with gusto is “che schifo!” (Basically: “how disgusting.”) It has a nice sharp ring and just enough sound variance that you can really give it some heft. Luckily or unfortunately, I don’t get to use it in anger all that often!
I’ve come up with a few more:
melitsana / melitsanosalata
tzatziki
fasolakia
paidakia
spanakopita, which features prominently in a Venture Bros. episode. It’s the only way we say it now ![]()
Harry: “Repeat after me. Pepper.”
Sally: “Pepper.”
Harry: "Waiter, there is too much pepper on my paprikash.”
Sally: "Waiter, there is too much pepper on my paprikash.”
Harry: “But I would be proud to partake of your pecan pie”
Bibimbap
That’s a great one! So rhythmic!
Forgot about the portmanteaus of Indonesian street food. The rolling of the Indonesian “r” can put the “rr” of Spanish to shame.
There’s nasgor, or nasi goreng (fried rice). I always say it as nasgorrrr.
Then we have batagor, bakso tahu goreng (fried meatballs of vague provenance with fried tofu and a peanut/sweet sauce).
At the ricepad pad, we’re just as likely to say “bibidibop”.
callaloo
