We forgot until now, in spite of having enjoyed stepping foot into the joint before all the ownership changes and fading from view.

Double vodka. And for the lady . . . Dubonnet with a twist:

Not much to pick from on YouTube for another great food scene movie - What’s Cooking? Four different families. Asian, African American, Jewish and Mexican. Fantastic Thanksgiving food prep scenes. Lots of family drama. This movie has it all. Here’s the trailer:

Home for the Holidays
 extremely underrated movie IMO

This reminds me of a funny bit in Everything Is Illuminated:
Jonathan: I’m a vegetarian.
Alex: You’re a what?
Jonathan: I don’t eat meat.
Alex: How can you not eat meat?
Jonathan: I just don’t.
Alex: [to Grandfather, in Russian] He says he does not eat meat.
Grandfather: [to Alex, in Russian] What?
Alex: No meat?
Jonathan: No meat.
Alex: Steak?
Jonathan: No

Alex: Chickens!
Jonathan: No

Alex: And what about the sausage?
Jonathan: No, no sausage, no meat!
Alex: [to Grandfather, in Russian] He says he does not eat any meat.
Grandfather: [to Alex, in Russian] Not even sausage?
Alex: [to Grandfather, in Russian] I know!
Grandfather: [to Alex, in Russian] What is wrong with him?
Alex: What is wrong with you?
Jonathan: Nothing, I just don’t eat meat!
Alex: My grandfather informs me that is not possible.

You don’t have to choose:

The Help ~ Minny, Crisco and fried chicken.

The Help ~ Minny’s chocolate pie scene. If some of you are offended by the S word do not push play. But Hilly was not a very nice person. Great movie.

I watched the 1933 film One Sunday Afternoon yesterday on TCM - it was filmed several times more, most famously in a musical remake called The Strawberry Blonde in 1941. It has a great food scene about 45 minutes in, where Gary Cooper sits down to a meal prepared by his unappreciated wife, Frances Fuller:

Cooper: Say, that’s what I’d call some kind of feast! Everything I like! Scrapple, baking powder biscuits, squash

Didn’t we have a whole thread on scrapple on HO?

Yes there was here some time back. (Scrapple not Snapple)

In the movie ‘Rocky Balboa’, Rocky owns a restaurant. All of the restaurant scenes were filmed at Victor’s Cafe in South Philly. Victor’s was famous for good italian food and because all the wait staff sang opera. It was my favorite restaurant in the 90s & 2000s. Victor’s was originally an RCA Record outlet owned by a man who loved opera.
