We forgot until now, in spite of having enjoyed stepping foot into the joint before all the ownership changes and fading from view.
Double vodka. And for the lady . . . Dubonnet with a twist:
âIâll have what sheâs having.â Hands down. No contest.
A friend of mine had a dinner party around this movie. everyone was tasked to bring their own creative dish and the movie was broken up into scenes for the courses.
Some of the greats have been mentioned. Thought about These
BeetleJuice - Day-O
My Big Fat Greek Wedding 'What do you mean he donât eat meat?" âThats Okay I make Lamb!â

Peeling potatoes, Family and a Bundt cake. From My Big Fat Greek Wedding.
Not much to pick from on YouTube for another great food scene movie - Whatâs Cooking? Four different families. Asian, African American, Jewish and Mexican. Fantastic Thanksgiving food prep scenes. Lots of family drama. This movie has it all. Hereâs the trailer:
Home for the Holidays ⊠extremely underrated movie IMO
This reminds me of a funny bit in Everything Is Illuminated:
Jonathan: Iâm a vegetarian.
Alex: Youâre a what?
Jonathan: I donât eat meat.
Alex: How can you not eat meat?
Jonathan: I just donât.
Alex: [to Grandfather, in Russian] He says he does not eat meat.
Grandfather: [to Alex, in Russian] What?
Alex: No meat?
Jonathan: No meat.
Alex: Steak?
Jonathan: NoâŠ
Alex: Chickens!
Jonathan: NoâŠ
Alex: And what about the sausage?
Jonathan: No, no sausage, no meat!
Alex: [to Grandfather, in Russian] He says he does not eat any meat.
Grandfather: [to Alex, in Russian] Not even sausage?
Alex: [to Grandfather, in Russian] I know!
Grandfather: [to Alex, in Russian] What is wrong with him?
Alex: What is wrong with you?
Jonathan: Nothing, I just donât eat meat!
Alex: My grandfather informs me that is not possible.
You donât have to choose:
The Help ~ Minny, Crisco and fried chicken.
The Help ~ Minnyâs chocolate pie scene. If some of you are offended by the S word do not push play. But Hilly was not a very nice person. Great movie.
Yikes. I didnât remember that part, abd now I canât not remember it.
I watched the 1933 film One Sunday Afternoon yesterday on TCM - it was filmed several times more, most famously in a musical remake called The Strawberry Blonde in 1941. It has a great food scene about 45 minutes in, where Gary Cooper sits down to a meal prepared by his unappreciated wife, Frances Fuller:
Cooper: Say, thatâs what Iâd call some kind of feast! Everything I like! Scrapple, baking powder biscuits, squashâŠ
Didnât we have a whole thread on scrapple on HO?
Yes there was here some time back. (Scrapple not Snapple)
In the movie âRocky Balboaâ, Rocky owns a restaurant. All of the restaurant scenes were filmed at Victorâs Cafe in South Philly. Victorâs was famous for good italian food and because all the wait staff sang opera. It was my favorite restaurant in the 90s & 2000s. Victorâs was originally an RCA Record outlet owned by a man who loved opera.
One of my all time favorite movies, always wanted to make the Timpano but never worked up the motivation!
