Would You Pay $34 for Shrimp Cocktail?

Even in the less glamorous and broke fields that don’t throw money around, sometimes you luck out…mostly through sales reps trying to be your friend inviting to lunch or dinner. I declined 98% of those invites because it’s still my time and the choices were usually meh. Nothing personal, that’s their job. Sometimes you still had to go but sometimes it was worth going, like the time a sales company comp’ed dinner at Gary Danko, which had a Michelin star until last year. (This was in the early 00s.) Considering what some companies put you through….ordering something mildly expensive to me is no big deal…they got their moneys worth already and they’re eating too.
