Which recent food trends make you roll your eyes?

I wish it were a trend.

It is in the WFD thread

I was the one who first brought it up :sunglasses:

Come to think of it, let’s replace trend with “pizzeria mainstay.”

Is there a favorite pizza topping/combo thread yet? Do eet!

Well, since I’m making quiche for dinner tonight, that one remains in style for me. I still like sun-dried tomatoes on occasion, and BACON deserves to be in the HOF.

I’ve avoided Avocado toast, Matcha, Poke bowls, IG Bait, TikTok recipes, Instant Pot (bought one during the middle of the craze, and returned it a couple of weeks later), and Air Fryers.

Enormous “milkshakes” that are enough for at least 3 people.
Went to Universal Studios with my nieces earlier this year. These desserts were really over the top. They cost between $15 and $20 each, everyone wants their own, and no one can finish them.
Why does a milkshake need candy, three kinds of syrup, and a slice of cake on top?

That’s still just boiled grünkohl with a variety of meats on the side.

ETA: Although adding Flammkuchen to grünkohl is def a new one for me. Weird combo.

I have a feeling that’ll be the least of their worries.

So… this isn’t super-duper new, but painting plates or bowls with the food yer supposta eat.

This delightfully light & airy chicken liver mousse - while beautifully presented - was a PITA to eat, trying to scrape off the last bits of mousse with knife & fork, or awkwardly trying to grab it with the toasted challah.

Also, little dots of sawce on the plate. Sure, dining should also entail a visually pleasing experience, but … hold the Kandinsky plz.

Ahahahahaha… that’s a lil too much fat on one board, even for me.

It’s even possible to get a butter board Christmas ornament these days, LOL.
