But the random ghosting of everyone in our circle out of the blue is bizarre, to say the least.

I happen to stumble across this article about a man who killed himself to be with an AI persona that he was in love with…
Digital sycophants. What’s not to love?
This AI TOLD him to kill himself. OMG. ![]()
Yes and No – The AI chatbot said certain things to him.
The family did file a wrongful death suit against Google, so I guess the courts will decide if the AI chatbot was complicit/responsible??
It seems to almost mirror the fictional movie “Her” with Joaquin Phoenix (without the death part)
I’m sad to admit that I actually liked the movie – please don’t think less of me.
Edited to Add: I just checked and that Movie “Her” is streaming for free on the Fawsome channel. Going to watch it again (this afternoon), after I dye Sunshine’s hair. Her hand/thumb feels pretty good today and she is overdue for a dye job & trim.
Gemini told him enough in specific words to off himself. I truly hope the family gets some restitution for their son’s death.
It is all very sad – and he was so young.
Kinda pissed to have paid $2.49 each for 3 bunches of sub-par thyme / decent rosemary at Wegmans, then finding wonderful quality thyme & rosemary at TJ’s just minutes later for $1.99

The last of our kitchen cabinets have shipped. They should be here next week. Our builders will go through them to verify everything’s complete, and we have a tentative start date of the 27th.
Estimated time to completion: 6 weeks, give or take.
The laundry room still had its original linoleum from the 40’s (pre WWII house) which is evidently LOADED w/ asbestos. Thankfully, it’s only about a 5’x10’ room, so our contractor can handle the abatement without bringing in specialists.
This week we empty out the last of the pantry onto temp shelves in the dining room, along with the toaster oven and microwave, and my partner will borrow a portable induction burner from her office. We have stocked up on paper plates and disposable utensils, because washing dishes in the bathroom should be kept to a minimum. That drawer full of chopsticks will finally come in handy.
I am very excited to have it done, but as the date approaches, my anxiety is having field day.
I keep telling myself that drawers that don’t constantly slide off track and lighting that doesn’t look like an 80’s dept store dressing room will be worth it. The new cooktop and dishwasher will be nice, too.
Very exciting! It will be a terrible hassle, and also worth it.

It was incredibly depressing to teach in a university classroom and watch the students walking around or sitting, immersed in their screens and completely oblivious to everyone around them. Even in the halls outside of the classroom. Even on the grounds. I can’t imagine what dorm life is like.
They are losing so much.
I hate when Emails are formatted to have a MEDIUM GRAY font vs. a BLACK font. Sure, let’s make it harder for us Olds to to read because someone out there said that Gray is the new Black. ![]()
An example:

And yes, I’ll say it: GET OFF MY LAWN!
OK, I feel better. Somewhat.
You’ll get through it, and will enjoy your new space. It’s kind of like cooking in a dorm room, but with better equipment (All we had was a hot plate and a little saucepan. Everything else hadn’t been invented yet
).
Little fossils make you think. It’s hard to believe that the high, dry field I found this in was once under water.
I’m sure it will all work out. We have officially gotten dates.
The asbestos abatement for the laundry room/pantry will begin Thurs, April 30. It should take two days. Assuming that all goes smoothly, the big demolition day is May 4, the following Monday.
I’ll post before/after pics.
Oyster mushrooms don’t have much flavor. There, I said it.
I prefer the king version, which I find to have more flavor, but I love the texture of both.
Agreed. I keep trying to make oyster mushrooms work, and all the notes on my recipes say “mushroom flavor gets lost.” Roasted plain, they’re good. But mix them with anything else and they hide.
The sad irony of being a lowly house spider: loves being near water, can’t swim to save its life.
And neither could I, poor lil spider. I’m sorry, I tried
