Saw a man at Lowe’s today with his pet skunk in his shopping cart.

:grimacing: Is that ā€œlegalā€ there?

Yes.

Maybe it is his ā€˜comfort companion pet’? I see people claim that for their iguanas, femrrets, really interesting color patterned rats (with purple and green streaks). ā€œStunksā€ can be surgically de-oderized.

Yes, but there are some animals that don’t make good ā€œpetsā€, so I was wondering.

I looked it up, and found the article linked in my post. I thought of it because I met a lady with an opossum, which turned out to be a ā€œrescueā€.

I’m outside gardening/watering at dusk almost every day and I have trained myself to give the skunks I regularly encounter a very wide berth. (The dog does not, unfortunately.) So I had a very visceral reaction to the skunk in the cart.

Part of me hopes you didn’t barf on the skunk. Part of me hopes you did!

Lol, not that visceral. Mostly extreme aversion.

Enjoying the calm before the storm…a predicted nor’easter here in the Boston area tomorrow. Heavy rains and winds. Will be bringing in the more delicate herbs/lettuces tonight (or at least putting them under the small overhang on my deck).

Of course, I’m taking days off on Thursday and Friday for an extra-long holiday weekend - and I chose to do something FUN tomorrow (well, fun for me, at least!). Even though the fun will be inside, we still have to get there in the rain! Then again - I’m making my sister drive into Boston, so I just have to be a quiet passenger.
