WFD, several meals… sardines cooked simply and sprinkled with fleur de sel. Squid salad as entry, cooked with saké, fish sauce and finished with yuzu juice with some tomatoes…

Dinner 2: I cooked a great classic, leek potato soup with a lot of butter, a lot of cream and leek and potato. The butter made the soup really good! With a beef steak, the basse cote… comfy meal

Dinner 3: Roasted pork belly with mustard and honey with a cucumber salad.

Thanks a lot, I will keep a note on the dishes

! You are right about the side dishes and condiments, actually when I flipped through the book, what interested me was the pickles! There are many interesting dishes interesting…

Very trendy in France too. But honestly it’s practical…

I got a Riess milk jug and a small pot. But the small pot keeps chipping on it’s own (without being hit). I wrote to Riess to complain, I wasn’t expecting anything, but they agreed it was quality problem with the first pot and send me another one. Now I’m a happy owner of 2 small pots. Maybe you will see them one day in the meal photos!

More octopus. Braised in the oven on low heat for 2 hours, without any water added. I prefer to cook octopus this way. The meat becomes more tender than braising on the stove. Seaweed comes with the oysters. Made a miso sauce for both things. Red wine for the partner. Certain sea creatures pair well with red wine.

Seaweed was boiled shortly.

Cooked this the other day and now just warmed it up in the oven. The flour got crispy which was rather nice.

Top Chef’s Restaurant Wars on the TV from last night. No news, because I didn’t want to lose my dinner.

Did I mention wine?

Wine, and take out pizza. It sure felt like the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day! Take out was all we had energy for.

Are those individual pizza rectangles?

Our favorite fishmonger cleaned out over a hundred
Black Cod (sable/butter fish) recently. Saved and gifted my wife almost all the roe sacks and livers.

Your method looks tasty, will give it a try.

The pizza is from Barones, an old school Valley joint that makes a square pie.

We went out for tacos last night. Just in case.

Nice gifts! I was the only few who bought the roe, fishmongers at the market realise there are people who eat them so now they sell them (eur. 7,50/kg).

In northern Germany (the Baltics, Scandinavia too I suspect) they smoke the whole roe sacs. I’ve read at least in Scandinavia they fried and slice and put it on bread.

Almost got roe again today at the market but I resisted. I had to look away! :triumph:

Thursday night was a Lost Cause, i actually stayed home sick that day because i felt like i was losing this battle. (And i never ever take sick days!) Of course there were still lots of work emails, text messages, and one frantic phone call. I think dinner was just more green juice- i was basically sleeping or making and drinking green juice while reading my trashy murder mystery.
Had to go to work yesterday which i managed via the magical combination of dayquil and coffee. For dinner i stopped into this great Indian restaurant near my office and they were kind enough to make me the masala curry with tofu. Also got a side of their great naan. I even managed to get it home without making a mess of it all. Leftovers made a great lunch today and i feel like I’m finally over the worst of the sickness

Couldn’t make it down to Boston for the Women’s March - I knew the feets wouldn’t make it. I managed to hobble around Wegmans (heavily leaning on the cart for support). I gotta get these feet looked at.

Dinner tonight was some beautiful local (New Bedford, MA) sea scallops, simply pan seared and drizzled with a bit of cider syrup. Served on Israeli couscous with some asparagus alongside. Wine.

Talenti Caramel Cookie Crunch for dessert. Something on the TV.

And the ever-famous Reverse Pushme-Pullyu Cat. Would that then mean it’s a Pushme-Pushme Cat?

Linda, those scallops are GORGEOUS. Not to mention the adorable kitties! We went simple for dinner tonight, grilled flap steaks with roasted garlic aioli and curry roasted cauliflower. Tomorrow, I smoke! I picked up beef short ribs and a whole brisket at Restaurant Depot this morning, so I’ll concoct some rubs in the morning and smoke everything over a mixture of hickory and pecan. We’ll be eating brisket for a week. As if that were something to complain about!

OK, now that sounds wonderful! As does the brisket. You’re beefing out this week.
